Remember making a phone out of two paper cups and a string?
You'd poke a hole in the bottom of each cup, thread the string through, tie a knot, and then—if you did it right—you could talk to your friend across the room.
But here's the catch: it only worked when the string was tight.
If the string was loose? Nothing. You'd talk, your friend would say "What?" and you'd both end up laughing and shouting instead.
Your nervous system is a lot like that string.
The Longest String
Your brain is one cup. Your body is the other cup. And your spinal cord and nerves are the string connecting them.
Every message your brain sends—"heart, keep beating," "stomach, digest lunch," "immune system, fight this bug"—travels down that string.
When the string is tight, the message arrives loud and clear. Your body hears it, understands it, and acts on it.
That's health. That's function. That's you at your best.
The Loose String
But what happens when that string gets a little slack?
A vertebral subluxation is like a loose string. It's not that the string is broken. It's not that the cups are broken. It's just that the connection isn't as tight as it should be.
The message still travels. But it gets muffled. Distorted. Weak.
Your body says, "What? Can you repeat that? I didn't quite catch it."
And your brain repeats it. But the string is still loose. So the message gets lost again.
Not all of it. Just enough to matter.
You Can't Feel the Slack
Here's the sneaky part: you don't feel a loose string.
Your body doesn't send up a flare. It doesn't say, "Hey, the connection between your brain and your pancreas is a little weak today."
Only about 10–15% of your nerves are wired for pain. The other 85% quietly run your organs, your glands, your immune system, and your mood—without saying a word.
So you might feel fine. But your string might be a little loose.
And a slightly loose string today can mean decades of muffled messages.
Tighten the String
That's what I do.
I don't treat conditions. I don't chase symptoms. I check your spine for vertebral subluxations—the loose string—and I gently correct them.
When your spine is properly aligned, the string is tight again. Your brain and body are back on the same line, and the message comes through loud and clear.
No more "What? Can you repeat that?"
